History

May O’Donnell and Ray Green had a desire to share their art beyond their own lives. This desire led to the formation of the O’Donnell-Green Music and Dance Foundation. In the 1960’s, Ray Green bought townhouses on East 7th Street between Avenues C and D. He spent years renovating them. Later, the proceeds of the sale of some of these townhouses became the bulwark of the Foundations resources.

The Foundation was formed during the lifetimes of May and Ray but became more active upon the closing of the O’Donnell Green Estate which injected additional funds for dispersal.

The O’Donnell-Green Music and Dance Foundation has been supporting artists in the field of music and dance since 2008 by offering grants ranging between $5,000 and $50,000.
